He enjoyed wood working, bowling and traveling across the nation. He retired from the Army in 2004 giving 22 years of service to his country. In 1990, his job with the Army National Guard brought them to the Treasure Valley. His job then took them to Pocatello, Idaho where they finished raising their daughters. Phil was a cowboy at heart, which really came out in Big Sky country. The next adventure was in Butte, Montana, where they loved to fish, hunt and camp. Their first daughter Claudette was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and their second daughter Melanie was born in Logan, Utah. Phil’s occupation as a truck driver took them to many cities. They married 5 months later and just celebrated their 47th anniversary. From the moment he saw her, he knew that Judy was going to be his wife. After the Coast Guard, Phil decided he would come home to Salt Lake City, where fireworks flew when he met his best friend, and love of his life Judy. His duties were search and rescue even during the Tsunami of 1964. He passed away on surrounded by his loving family.Īfter High School he enlisted in the Coast Guard and served our country in Neah Bay, Washington. He was a 1976 graduate of Union High School and graduated from Spartanburg Technical College with a degree in Machine Tool Technology.
